Healthy hair doesn’t happen by accident—it’s built on the right habits. Whether your hair is dry, damaged, color-treated, or just needs a refresh, these five steps will transform your routine and help you achieve the results you’re looking for. At Concepts, we’ve seen firsthand how consistency with these practices makes a measurable difference. Let’s get started.

Step 1: Wash Your Hair the Right Way

Hot water opens the hair cuticle and strips moisture, so use lukewarm or cool water instead. Use a quarter-sized amount of shampoo focused on the scalp and roots, not the ends. Always finish with conditioner on the mid-lengths and end for 2-3 minutes.

Pro tip: Wash only 2-3 times per week to preserve natural oils, and use dry shampoo between washes.

Step 2: Deep Condition Weekly

Your regular conditioner maintains, but deep conditioning repairs. Once a week, apply a hydrating mask and leave it on for 10-20 minutes (or overnight for very dry hair). Look for argan oil, keratin, coconut oil, or shea butter. You’ll notice a difference in just one week.

Step 3: Protect Your Hair from Heat

Heat styling breaks down protein bonds and evaporates moisture. Use a heat protectant before blow-drying—a cream works best for that, applied to damp hair. Use the lowest heat setting that works, and limit heat styling to 3-4 times per week when possible. Professional blow-outs at a salon use better techniques and cause less damage.

Step 4: Get Regular Trims

Split ends only get worse, they don’t heal. Trim every 6-8 weeks to remove damage before it travels up the hair shaft. Regular trims keep your hair healthier, fuller-looking, and easier to manage.

Step 5: Use Professional Products & Treatment

Salon-quality products have higher concentrations of active ingredients and actually deliver results. We carry Kérastase, Oribe, and Moroccanoil. For damage beyond at-home care, professional treatments like keratin treatments, deep conditioning, or protein treatments target specific concerns. Our stylists can recommend what your hair needs.
